    Testing Policies and Procedures

If you're certified as a Certified Professional Tarot Reader (CPTR) or higher rank, you may evaluate and pass or fail any candidate for the rank of Certified Apprentice Tarot Reader (CATR). If the candidate passes the examination, please immediately advise the Board the name and mailing address of the person on whom you've conferred the rank of CATR. The candidate will receive this rank as soon as he or she has paid the required certification fee.

To confer the rank of CATR on any candidate you must be convinced he or she knows the meanings of all seventy-eight tarot cards and can use those meanings in readings done with one, two and three card tarot spreads.

If you're certified as a Certified Tarot Consultant (CTC) or higher rank, you may evaluate and pass or fail any candidate for the rank of Certified Tarot Reader (CTR). If the candidate passes the examination, please immediately advise the Board the name and mailing address of the person on whom you've conferred the rank of CTR. The candidate will receive this rank as soon as he or she has paid the required certification fee.

To confer the rank of CTR on any candidate you must be convinced he or she knows the meanings of all seventy-eight tarot cards and can use those meanings in readings done with tarot spreads using from one to seven cards. You must also be convinced the candidate knows more than one key word, phrase or concept for each card and when to apply each meaning in a reading. The candidate may use any of the following systems but is not confined to only these:

    • Reversals
    • Elemental Dignities
    • Astrological Dignities
    • Numerological Dignities
    • Mystical Dignities
    • Esoteric Dignities

If you're certified as a Certified Tarot Master (CTM) or higher rank, you may evaluate and pass or fail any candidate for the rank of Certified Professional Tarot Reader (CTR). If the candidate passes the examination, please immediately advise the Board the name and mailing address of the person on whom you've conferred the rank of CPTR. The candidate will receive this rank as soon as he or she has paid the required certification fee.

To confer the rank of CPTR on any candidate you must be convinced he or she qualifies for the lower ranks of CATR and CTR and is able to perform professional quality readings using spreads up to twelve or more cards. You must be convinced the candidate believes and follows his or her Code of Ethics in his or her tarot readings. If you have any questions about his or her Code of Ethics, please contact the Tarot Certification Board to discuss this matter.

The most important consideration in conferring this rank on any candidate is the quality of the candidate's readings. You must be convinced the candidate's readings are of professional quality or you must fail the candidate for this rank. If you do fail the candidate please explain why and indicate how he or she might improve the quality of his or her tarot readings.

If you're certified as a Certified Tarot Instructor (CTI) or Grandmaster (CTGM), you may evaluate and pass or fail any candidate for the rank of Certified Tarot Consultant (CTC). If the candidate passes the examination, please immediately advise the Board the name and mailing address of the person on whom you've conferred the rank of CTC. The candidate will receive this rank as soon as he or she has paid the required certification fee.

To confer the rank of CTC on any candidate you must be convinced he or she qualifies for the rank of CPTR and has done the required projects for the CTC rank. All articles must be publishable in both content and quality. You must be convinced the candidate wrote the papers you're evaluating. The work must be original and not previously published by another person.

Please encourage your candidate to publish his or her work in one of the more-widely read tarot papers, newletters or journals. The Board has approved several publications expressly for this purpose.

If you're certified as a Certified Tarot Grandmaster (CTGM), you may evaluate and pass or fail any candidate for the rank of Certified Tarot Master (CTM). If the candidate passes the examination, please immediately advise the Board the name and mailing address of the person on whom you've conferred the rank of CTM. The candidate will receive this rank as soon as he or she has paid the required certification fee.

To confer the rank of CTM on any candidate you must be convinced he or she qualifies for the rank of CTC and has done the required projects for the CTM rank. All articles must be publishable in both content and quality. You must be convinced the candidate wrote the papers you're evaluating. The work must be original and not previously published by another person.
