Certified Apprentice Tarot Reader Examination (CATR)


     

  1. List at least one key word or phrase for each upright card in a seventy-eight card tarot deck using the deck of your choice.

     

  2. Demonstrate your ability to do one, two and three card spreads to the satisfaction of your examiner

     

  3. Your examiner will advise both you and us when you pass the examination. At that time we'll need:

INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES
  1. Be prepared to tell your examiner what each card means to you from memory
  2. Be prepared to answer no less than five questions posed to you by your examiner
  3. Be prepared to use one, two and three card spreads of your choice
  4. Be prepared to explain how changing the sequence of cards in the spread changes the reading and the meaning of the cards
  5. Be prepared to explain how exchanging some of the cards in your spread changes your answer to the posed question
  6. Your examiner may ask you to replace certain cards in your spreads with other cards to test your knowledge of the cards
  7. Your examiner may ask you to move certain cards from one position to another to test your knowledge of the spreads you use
  8. Please remember your examiner is a volunteer who wants you to pass your examination
  9. Please remember your examiner is a volunteer who wants to maintain a high standard for certification

 

 

INSTRUCTIONS TO EXAMINERS
  1. Read our current Testing Policies and Procedures
  2. Please be certain the candidate knows the meanings of the cards before asking them to do any readings
  3. Please be certain the candidate understands 1-2-3 card spreads before asking them to do any readings
  4. Please substitute other cards in their spreads to convince yourself the candidate does know the meanings of the cards and the spread being used
  5. Please remember candidates may use the decks and spreads of their choice
  6. Please remember candidates may use the key words, phrases or concepts of their choice for each of the tarot cards
  7. Please remember candidates may be nervous and that shouldn't count against them
  8. Please remember your duty is to satisfy yourself the candidate meets the requirements for certification
  9. Please remember we really appreciate you for volunteering to do this for us
